What It Means To Know Jesus

I M P R E S S I O N S

Definition of WILD CARD: noun
: an unknown or unpredictable factor.
"The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.” // John 3:8
Just as the Holy Spirit is unpredictable and mysterious, The WILD Card series is a collection of posts designed to be spur-of-the-moment and Spirit-led, based on the discernment of each individual author.

About 6 years ago I came to Crossroads church with an absolute blindness of what to expect. I grew up in a home where the last thing that my family talked about was Jesus so it is amazing to see where I am now. Looking back, I have no idea how I went through the majority of my life without knowing someone who loves me the way that Jesus loves me. Ever since that day 6 years ago, my life has been resurrected into a life filled with love and forgiveness. As a result, it is my hope that I can share the life and joy that Jesus has given to me with those around me. For the people that do not know Jesus I want to explain the life that is experienced once a person takes that giant leap of faith.

The Relationship

But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. //Romans 5:8

There is no greater act of love than laying down your life for one another. Now, imagine a sinless man who sacrificed His own life for every sinful person that lives in this world. He laid His life down for all of us even though we are all unworthy of His never ending love. This concept was so hard for me to understand until I accepted Jesus as my savior. The world is a place of violence and hateful actions, but the world of Jesus is a place of love and peace. I keep expressing this word love because if there was one word that should be used to describe this Man, love is the word. Jesus is full of love because He is, Himself, love. Having a relationship with Jesus has caused my surrounding relationships to grow tremendously and I’ve been able to treat people with the respect that they deserve, no matter what background or beliefs they may possess. A real relationship with Jesus is making a covenant that you are going to trust Jesus with every area of your life and love people regardless of what differences you may share with them. If you want to live a life emulating the life of Jesus then you must first start with genuine love.

A new commandment I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. //John 13:34

I fell in love with Jesus because He loves me when I am at my worst just as much as he loves me when I am at my best. There was a time in my life where I felt invisible. I felt like I was alone and nobody noticed the kind of troubles I was going through. When I decided to give all my problems to Jesus I did not feel invisible anymore. Instead, I felt invincible. We are all going to go through unimaginable trials in our lives, but Jesus will always be with us. He will never keep us at the bottom because with Him the sky is the limit.

All Jesus wants from us is to love Him fully no matter the situation that presents itself. He wants us to remain faithful to Him not just now but always. I also want to express to the people that do not know Jesus yet that they are not alone. I am not a better person because I share a relationship with Jesus. I make mistakes just as everyone else does in their life so I just want to let you know that no mistake could ever cause Jesus to love you less. He already loves you unconditionally and always will. Finally, if you fall down in life I will be there to help lift you back up. I am child of Jesus Christ and that is my honorable duty.
